PRACL supports and advocates for people with disabilities, children who are at risk for or who have a developmental delay and their families. Staff offer community education and promote cooperative efforts that reduce barriers for all.

Services are based on principles of respect and equality for all people. Staff members celebrate differences and build on the contributions of each individual. They value the involvement of families in the lives of the individuals served and offer life long quality supports.

PRACL offers services to over 370 individuals and their families from birth, through the infant development, integrated preschool, supported child development and family support services programs as well as provides occupational and physiotherapy services. They support 9 group homes and operate day programs for youth, adults and seniors both in community and facility based. These include life skills and employment services.

PRACL is proud of it's employment support services. Over 45 jobs in Powell River have been created to allow clients to work in the community.

PRACL has various locations from which it provides community programs – the Jean Pike Centre provides children's services while the Community Living Place provides space for adult and senior programs plus the Snoezelin Room, which provides sensory stimulation.

Donations to Powell River & District United Way go to PRACL to help them run their integrated preschool and provide activities that would not otherwise be possible on a very low fixed income – such as camping trips, mini golf outings and subsidized tickets for events. It all makes a difference and enriches lives.
